Glad you enjoyed the experience! I worked in the edible fish industry for several years—quite fascinating stuff. Yes everybody boils in the can, didn’t know there was a firm who didn’t. Sounds like a good outing for our next trip to Portugal.
So underrated and overlooked is the noble canned sardine. I usually buy armfuls of the stuff when leaving Portugal and heading back to Dubai. So much so, that I have a friend who puts in an order with me so that I can bring some back for her.
I just bought a can of sardines. The packaging was so beautiful. But I haven't really prepared them for myself before.
When you say that you spread them on bread - is that it? Just put the sardine onto the bread, and enjoy? Especially if they are already packed in olive oil?
I agree with everything you say about "skilled workers."
Oh, and PS - my stepdad's name is also "Charlie Brown." :)
Oh really! I've not heard of anyone else with my name so that's cool! Yes, here I've noticed the main way to eat them is to just break them up a bit and put on sturdy bread for a snack. Pasta is another great way to use them too

Yes sounds like cooking outside the can is unusual. I would highly recommend the visit!

My brother in the UK just read this and asked for an order too!
