What a great article. There are a lot of invisible jobs out there which are not valued or "seen". I manage my own residence for two ladies with different abilities. It requires me to wear many hats and to be quite subtle and observant. It's hard work but rewarding but few consider this a great career choice. Thank you for opening my eyes to great service.
I worked as a waiter in college and on my best night I mediocre.
The two best services I have had in restaurants in my life were
1) a Greek style diner in Paramus nj the waiter had been doing this forever and knew their encyclopedia size menu inside and out
2) Emirile’s Steakhouse in Vegas our waitress was late 20’s to early 30’s her flawless service was provided with a casual ease like she was doing this for the sheer joy of it. I said to my party that is how I know she is a true professional
One of my party responded with what’s the bid deal anyone can serve food and she could do the job. I responded that she is an idiot who can’t even do her own job much less a professional like our server.
Surprise surprise but I of course agree. Ive worked in both offices and, obviously, kitchens and some of the most impressive people I met in the kitchens.
As a former flight attendant, I 100% agree!
I'm sure you had the same issues. "Ah it must be so easy to be a flight attendant!" Sigh...
And "flight attendants are dumb, glorified waiters!" Most had college degrees AND many fan their own second businesses/careers.

I agree, it happens in so many industries.
I agree completely

Yes to this. I've never met people like who I've met in hospitality.
