You have cleverly included some astute observations under the guise of writing about a harmless cultural quirk. I think there's a lot of potential for this to be expanded into a collection of essays about how various industries (not only food-related) short-change women by offering them lesser quality products.

What timing! This week it occurred to me that I’d never had a Sbux PSL, nor had my DH. So yesterday we shared one. Not fans after all (too cloying). But bring on the cider & baked goods—yum.

I've just returned from an autumnal walk, PSL in hand, to stumble upon this post. I love my quality and speciality coffees, but every so often I will indulge in a PSL precisely for the reason of nostalgia! It takes me back to my campus days. I love the feeling the PSL creates combined with the cold air on a walk.

Though I will note it is only an occasional purchase because damn it's pricey and sugary! I request one shot of syrup on the app rather than the default of three.

Gosh yes the sugar made me feel really weird when I had one. A bit too much for my liking - but I definitely get the appeal

LOUDER for the well meaning men in the back. And more pumpkin spice latte for everyone.

I’ve had good versions of a PSL. I don’t like most Starbucks lattes. The vanilla one is okay.

Thank you for writing about this. I love the smell of a PSL, but the actual drink is far too sweet for my taste. The gendering of food is one of the reasons I won't watch most cooking shows. BBQ is "manly" but salad is "girly"? Huh? Men don't need veggies? God forbid a cooking show where men decorate cookies, unless it's Halloween and the icing is black or blood-red, which makes it "manly". The whole thing is ridiculous.

Men don’t decorate cake. Unless they are awarded the plause and the laurels for being the best (?) like Grolet. Then they are even encouraged to (gasping and clutching pearls) create fruit shaped patisserie

Well the men can enjoy their heart disease, stroke and erectile dysfunction with their manly animal based foods and high alcohol spirits and cigars I'll be living to a healthy 90 with the high fiber smoothies and avodaco toast on whole grain bread washed down with a soy PSL from a women owned business. Never start bucks. BDS and free palestine
