I'd heard of fridgescaping but the at home salad bar thing has me wheezing! Crossing my fingers we'll get at-home hibachi or unlimited breadsticks in the living room next
I'm in UK but similar tale here but how I see it is,no one makes a profit selling a plain basic commodity. You have to "add value" I like up catch the daily 15 minute radio farming report. Farmers will often ingeniously say in so many words or directly, they are selling THE STORY. Instead of selling say a standard boring but nutritious green cabbage for 50p (this is a fictional example) you create a story that the media can pick up on. You found the strain of cabbage you grow in an old abandoned walled garden in Italy. You researched and found it its an old cultivar dating from the 1720s. It's got lots more vitamins and goodness in it than bland modern varieties. So you spin the story,it's not lies,it's truth but just polished up to sparkle. And you sell your cabbages for £1.25!
Seems like celebrities have a need to have a product that they can promote for themselves. No matter if it is an actor, musician, or media influencer, they all need an EVOO, whisky, or clothing brand. They tout their name, but when they are not transparent with ingredients and how they are sourced, I am not influenced to buy. I can appreciate a nice package, but I don't buy it because of that.
I have a whole story about the rise of the celebrity CPG circulating my brain right now, especially when it comes to alcohol which is my specialty. It's a fascinating world but like you say, if the goods aren't good enough, I'm not buying!
Oops. The laugh was meant for Jackie’s comment on breadsticks in the living room.
What I meant to say here: Fridgescaping? Like we’re making the insides of our refrigerators camera ready?! Eek. I’m in trouble. The fridge in Ruby the van, my current home is not ready for this.
You’re so right that brands should up their game beyond aesthetics if they’re going to be upping their prices.

I just finished our olive harvest here in Lazio and the oil is wonderful.
