Fascinating list, in the sense that except for 2 or 3 items, my pantry has pretty much all that yours does. (Although, now I'm reminded that I'm out of sauerkraut. Must remedy that!
Delighted to see I always have almost everything on this list. I only started cooking fairly recently (post-divorce) and it makes me so happy when I read a recipe and have most of the ingredients.
Good list, Charlie! Apart from not having cheese, polenta, hot sauce, and broad beans, I pretty much share the same stuff in my cupboard and fridge as you!! I especially find mustard very adaptive for cooking. Love to hear what you might suggest as an alternative to cheese (texture/flavour) for cooking! Thanks!
Ah yes mustard is a good one! This is a very flexible list so I may add mustard to it.
In terms of cheese, it depends on what you're doing with it. If it's to top pasta, fried breadcrumbs can be a good alternative (it's in fact known as "poor man's parmesan"). If it's a dietary requirement, I hear that a lot of dairy-free cheeses have seriously improved in the last few years and make a good alternative too

(I just found you via Notes!)
Excellent!

Me too! And even happier when I know I can substitute for what I have

This is such a great idea! I have so many ingredients and really don’t need half of them.
